Venus in Furs

Part Two: The Legacy of Cain

The second chapter of the exhibition Venus in Furs, first presented in 2019, “The Legacy of Cain,” is now relocating to a unique venue in the heart of BeyoÄŸlu.
Co-curated by Ezgi Yıldız and Can AkgümüÅŸ , the exhibition brings together works by 22 artists and is hosted by Mr. Cas Hotel. Opening on 16 December, the exhibition concludes on 21 December, the longest night of the year.

The mark that signifies the first crime is etched upon Cain’s forehead and, simultaneously, engraved within humanity’s collective unconscious. The Legacy of Cain unfolds as a narrative in which the human subject constructs its own subjectivity by both resisting and seeking refuge in authority. While bearing the weight of this mark, the individual is confronted with the perpetual effort to reconstruct desire beneath its burden. The sign of crime becomes more than a weight; it transforms into the stage of desire itself—a site of endless negotiation and struggle through which human existence is continually formed. When observed closely, this unfolding drama encapsulates humanity’s historical and emotional burden, revealing the infinite cycle of guilt and suffering.
