FALSE FACE
Murat Balcı
KAIROS
12.09 – 04.10.2025
Vernissage: Friday, 12 September, 18:00–20:00
KAIROS is pleased to host Murat Balcı’s third solo exhibition False Face, on view from 12 September to 4 October 2025.
False Face focuses on the artist’s deciphering of the 21st-century human through his own observations and experiences. In this experiential process, oscillating between confrontation and dissolution around the semantic voids created by social transformation on the individual, the constellation of works illuminates the change that everyone, to a greater or lesser degree, feels. While conveying the unsettling story of this century’s transformations through his own image, Murat Balcı dissolves the boundaries of estrangement and arrives at a shared map of collective experience. In doing so, the artist steps away from being the sole subject of the exhibition and frames his narrative as a self-portrait of society itself. Observing from a measured distance the systemic acts that drive society toward both collapse and reconstruction, the emergence of new identities, commodified personas, and shifting social relations and modes of communication, Balcı invites viewers to join him in his effort to make sense of the time he inhabits through False Face.
False Face can be visited at KAIROS from Tuesday to Saturday, between 12:00 and 19:00, from 12 September to 4 October 2025.
