MURAT BALCI

 

Murat Balci (b.1980, Bursa) graduated from Uludag University (Turkey), Department Of Music Teaching. The artist deals with the elements of pressure on our daily lives in his works. He researches examples of concepts such as authority and power from history to the present and tries to interpret them in his works. The artist continues to produce in the fields of sound installation, sculpture and performance, as well as painting and drawing. His solo exhibition “Tamed Voices / Other Side” opened in 2018, at Kurtulus Rum Primary School (Off Space) in Istanbul. He had his second solo show ‘’in the beginning everything belonged to nobody’’ at KAIROS Gallery in 2022. Some of the exhibitions the artist has participated in include Mamut Art Project Art Fair, Istanbul (2016), “Printed’17 / The Multiplier Effect” Group Exhibition, Mixer Gallery, Istanbul (2017), Contemporary Istanbul, Mixer Gallery, Istanbul (2017), Same Garden, Museum Evliyagil, Ankara (2018), Complex Questions, Fascinating Responses, Evliyagil Dolapdere, Istanbul (2019), The Child Within me / A Selection From The Omer Koc Collection, Abdulmecid Efendi Mansion, Istanbul (2019), Reimage: Morning After Dark, KAIROS Gallery, Istanbul (2022), POV, KAIROS Gallery, Istanbul (2024). The artist continues to live and produce in London.
