KAZIM ŞİMŞEK
Kazım Şimşek (1987, Ankara) studied for one year at the Sculpture Department of Hacettepe University Faculty of Fine Arts between 2006–2007, and then completed his undergraduate studies at the Painting Department of the same faculty between 2007–2012. In 2016, he began his master’s degree at the Painting Department of Hacettepe University Faculty of Fine Arts and completed it in 2019 with his thesis titled “How Artworks Represent Social Classes”. His first solo exhibition, “Moral”, opened in 2022 at Evliyagil Dolapdere, and his second solo exhibition, “Resistance”, took place in 2024 at Gallery Kairos. Group exhibitions and projects in which the artist has participated include: 2012, “Reality Terror”, Tütün Deposu, Istanbul; 2013, “As We Are”, Galeri Zilberman, Istanbul; 2017, “The Same Garden”, Evliyagil Museum, Ankara; 2019, “Paper”, Pilevneli Project, Istanbul; 2018, “Shaken Image”, Pera Museum, Istanbul; 2020, “Crystal Chateau”, Evliyagil Museum, Ankara; 2020, Mamut Art Project, Istanbul; 2021, “The Wizard and The Garden”, Ankara; 2022, “Reimage: Morning After Dark”, Gallery Kairos, Istanbul; 2024, “3” and “The Century of Pera, Prologue: The Lost Time”, Gallery Kairos, Istanbul; 2025, “Korbut Flip”, Gallery Kairos, Istanbul. In 2024, he also took part in the exhibition “New Lands” at Arkas Sanat Alaçatı, which brought together nearly 150 artists. The artist continues to live and work in Ankara.
