In her first solo exhibition, Altıparmak examines the nature of the act of loving, focusing on the tense relationship between the softness and violence of love. Through her works produced with sewing and embroidery techniques with materials such as textiles, fabrics and quilts, the artist comes to terms with the question “Is loving always a soft act, or does it always contain an inevitable hardness?”.

“Soft Love” explores how love is constructed as a structure that ensures the continuity of desire by purifying it from romantic ideals. İlhak Altıparmak's practice invites us to reflect on the rituals, relational forms and rules of desire, while at the same time attempting to redefine the nature and forms of love.
