Kairos is pleased to present Place to Linger, İbrahim Gökmen’s first solo exhibition in Turkey, from 20 November to 12 December 2026.
Focusing on the relationship between space, the body and time, the artist explores the possibilities that emerge from pausing and lingering in a place. Place to Linger offers an alternative pace to contemporary life, shaped by expectations of speed and constant movement. Resting, inhabiting a moment of emptiness and doing nothing become ways of reclaiming time and the body, and reconnecting with one’s surroundings.
In İbrahim Gökmen’s work, oppositions such as calm and unease, pleasure and vulnerability are treated not as fixed outcomes, but as a fragile equilibrium that is continually being re-established. Space carries these tensions, making visible the boundaries of the individual’s relationship with their surroundings.
Place to Linger invites viewers to consider how, amid chaos, we might make room to breathe, allow ourselves pleasure, slow down and reconnect with our surroundings.
About the artist
İbrahim Gökmen (b. 1997, İzmir) graduated from the Department of New Media at Istanbul Bilgi University.
