NIGHT
Elif Özen & Zeynep Arçay
October 12–19, 2026
KAIROS
KAIROS is pleased to announce “Night,” an exhibition bringing together the practices of Elif Özen and Zeynep Arçay, on view from October 12 to 19, 2026.
“Night” considers black as an element that reconstructs the body, the surface, and the gaze. In this encounter, where darkness gathers what light disperses, boundaries become more distinct as details recede, the silhouette comes into focus, and form emerges with its own weight.
In Zeynep Arçay’s designs, black ceases to be a veil that conceals the body and becomes a line that structures it. The cut, texture, and weight of the fabric bring the body together rather than dispersing it.
In Elif Özen’s monochrome surfaces, meanwhile, the body is considered through boundaries rather than detail. The contrast between black and white produces intensity instead of creating a field of representation. As tones diminish, form becomes more pronounced; soft transitions recede, leaving behind sharp marks and powerful silhouettes.
Bringing two distinct practices together on a shared conceptual ground, “Night” focuses on the dual nature of black—its capacity both to conceal and to reveal. Rather than erasing forms, darkness intensifies them, redefining the boundary between body and surface.
As night begins, the world gradually loses its tones. Colours do not disappear; they simply recede. As detail diminishes, form remains on its own. In this exhibition, black ceases to be a colour belonging to the night and becomes the shared language of the body, fabric, and surface.
