KAIROS is delighted to host Can AkgümüÅŸ’s fourth solo exhibition Triarchy between 18 October – 22 November 2025, as a parallel exhibition to the 18th Istanbul Biennale.
Triarchy, in its etymological roots, refers to a system of governance in which authority is shared among three powers. AkgümüÅŸ redefines this concept through the triad of oppression, violence, and fear in contemporary politics. Under the weight of tyranny and power, the image transforms—like a fragile light seeping through darkness—searching for the possibilities of a “new beauty” and addressing the post-truth human. From this tension, the artist reveals the wounds tyranny inscribes upon bodies, minds, and memory.
The exhibition interrogates how politicized institutions reshape human existence, while focusing on the possibility of the individual mind being turned into a playground of power. AkgümüÅŸ exposes how this fragile terrain, encircled by hate, fear, and violence, is transformed. By tracing the mechanisms that nourish this dark forest, he positions queer modes of existence as vital forms of resistance, drawing upon practices of memory, remembrance, and forgetting.
Triarchy can be visited at KAIROS from Tuesday to Saturday, between 12:00 and 19:00, from 18 October to 22 November 2025.
