İLHAK ALTIPARMAK

lhak Altıparmak (b. 1990, Erzurum) completed their undergraduate studies at Atatürk University Faculty of Fine Arts in Erzurum, in the Department of Graphic Design, and obtained a master’s degree in Painting from the Institute of Fine Arts at Düzce University. In their artistic practice, Altıparmak adopts an autobiographical and intuitive approach to the conflicts surrounding gender definitions, identity constructs, and community standards. They are interested in the halo of meaning formed around the associations of objects, spaces, and the body, treating the psychological realm of the individual as a material in itself. In recent works, Altıparmak has been exploring queer identity, frequently utilizing textile materials such as thread and fabric in their production.

In 2025, Altıparmak participated in the “UVNT ART FAIR” held at Matadero Madrid, and the “Türkiye Textile Biennial” in Gazipaşa-Alanya. In 2024, their works were exhibited at the 8th edition of BASE, presented at The Ritz-Carlton Residences Istanbul, and were also featured in the group exhibition Cuando se abren las puertas at Ilgaz Yıldız Gallery in Madrid. As part of the Utopia Workshops program, they collaborated with the Ahmet Yiğider Workshop at the Baksı Museum and showcased their work at MamutArt Project. Additionally, their works were included in the exhibition Kimlik Göstergeleri (Indicators of Identity), curated by Beral Madra at Taksim Sanat, Istanbul.

In 2023, Altıparmak was selected for the Artistic Production Grant Program III within the scope of CultureCIVIC: Cultural Arts Support Program and had the opportunity to work with Dilek Tina Winchester. That same year, they took part in Together on the Threshold: Artists Curators in Izmir and exhibited works at GAIN Exhibition: Closet Demonstrations held at Semmelweisklinik in Vienna. Previously, they participated in the YOUNG ART: Contemporary Art Project Competition in both 2021 and 2023, with works shown at prominent venues such as the İzmir Culture and Art Factory and the Tarık Zafer Tunaya Cultural Center.

İlhak Altıparmak continues to produce work through an interdisciplinary approach.
