ATLAS OF SILENCE
KAIROS
04.04.-12.04.2025
Opening: 04 April Friday,
Frequently exploring images beyond the primary visual in his lens-based productions, the artist reflects on the polysemy, contradictions, and dualities of imagery, aiming to question learned and standardized perspectives. In "Atlas of Silence", he approaches silence not only as something we hear but also as something we perceive. Going beyond the etymological meaning of the word, Kısaoğlu highlights its deep connection with concepts such as spirit, soul, phenomenology, and culture. Quoting French anthropologist and sociologist David Le Breton, he emphasizes that “Silence is not only an absence of sound but, above all, a modality of meaning.”
A multi-layered visual lexicon on silence in spaces, architecture, landscapes, and the inner worlds of individuals, "Atlas of Silence" is accompanied by texts from Ahmet Soysal, Ali Akay, and Enis Batur.
